Diana Stone works with parents to teach them massage techniques that work to develop deeper parent-infant bonding and relaxation, reduce infant pain and tension, regulate sleep and/or elimination along with a long list of other therapeutic benefits.

Breast Massage Therapy

As poor circulation to this area can produce uncomfortable symptoms, and breast scarring caused by surgery and/or trauma can cause painful syndromes and obstruct blood and lymph flow, breast wellness becomes increasingly important. The therapy entails specific kneading, rubbing strokes by a specifically trained therapist applied to the soft tissue of the breast to increase lymph and blood …

Chair Massage

Seated massage is particularly useful for massage therapy in a workplace/office setting. The technique involves the use of a specially designed massage chair in which the client sits comfortably. Seated massage includes bodywork and techniques, such as shiatsu, amma, and Swedish massage, where the massage therapist works on the fully clothed client in a variety of off-site settings.

Deep Tissue Massage Therapy

Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage therapy focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage therapy is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity (such as athletes), and patients who have sustained injuries.

Medical Massage Therapy

Performing medical massage uses the massage therapist background in pathology and utilizes specific treatments appropriate to working with disease, pain, and recovery from injury. The therapist may work from a physician’s prescription or as an adjunct healer within a hospital or physical therapy setting.

Pregnancy/Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy/prenatal massage is becoming increasingly popular with expectant mothers. Massage therapists certified in pregnancy massage understand the proper way to position and support a pregnant woman’s body during the massage, and how to modify various massage therapy and relaxation techniques. Pregnancy massage is used to reduce stress, decrease swelling, and relieve aches and pains.

Relaxation Massage

A relaxation massage is intended for rest and relaxation. This massage technique is not designed for therapeutic effects or for dealing with chronic pain or discomfort.

Sports Massage Therapy

Sports massage therapy is specifically designed for people who are involved in athletic competition, yet people who are active and exercise often benefit as well. The focus is on preventing and treating injury as well as enhancing athletic performance. Assisted stretching is a common technique. Massage therapy strokes are generally quicker than Swedish massage to help loosen muscles.

Swedish Massage Therapy

This is the most common type of massage therapy in the United States. It is also known as Swedish massage or simply massage therapy. Massage therapists use long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on muscle top layers and use massage lotions or oils to lubricate. Swedish massage therapy can be very gentle and relaxing.

Thai Massage on the Table

Thai massage is more energizing and rigorous than more classic forms of massage therapy. Thai massage is also called Thai Yoga Massage, because the therapist uses his or her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches. Thai massage is performed traditionally on a mat placed on the floor,  but we work in a modified fashion adapted to the therapist’s massage table.
